Alpine Threadworks is a one man custom sewing company started in July of 2004 by Neil Warren. Alpine Threadworks is run out of my basement in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. [You may tour my shop.]
I am responsible for every detail of Alpine Threadworks, from ordering materials to designing and hand-crafting each and every Alpine Threadworks custom product.
The goals of Alpine Threadworks are:
Hello, Neil here! I am the owner/operator of Alpine Threadworks.
I grew up in Cochrane Alberta. I graduated from the Outdoor Pursuits Program at the University of Calgary in 2004.
I have been guiding hiking & backpacking professionally since 1994. This summer guiding work has recently taken a backseat, as Alpine Threadworks has experienced fantastic support, for which I Thank you! I now earn a living from Alpine Threadworks, and I'm concentrating on Alpine Threadworks full time.
My passion is ski touring. Nothing compares to the feeling of being on a pair of skis in the mountains. I am currently training towards my Assistant Ski Guide exams with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. Other activities I enjoy are: surfing, road cycling, hiking/backpacking, swimming, yoga, & mountain biking.
I love to sew. I started sewing at age 12, when my mother first taught me how to use a sewing machine. I continued my learning by taking apart old gear to inspect the construction/design, reading books, managing the sewing repair shop at the UofC, and an endless amount of trial-and-error.
I thank you for your interest in Alpine Threadworks.
Cheers,
Neil Warren.
