Ultra 400X Woven (dyneema). Black. Used on the Selkirk Pack

  • Weight: 5.25 oz/yd² , 178 grams/square meter of fabric (GSM)
  • Abrasion: 8800cycles.
  • Tear Strength Warp: 187.7 lb , Fill 161.1 lb
  • Dyneema loves to talk about "stronger than steel!!" This is not true in practice.  Yes, the tensile strength (holding a static weight) of a 'thread' of dyneema is stronger than an equivalent thread of steel.  However, this is not representative of the real world strength of a fabric.  Truth be told, if I was building a pack for a durability contest, I would use good 'ol 1970's Cordura.  Why I think Dyneema is awesome is its light weight combined with being hydrophobic.  Traditional nylon absorbs water.  Dymeema does not.  So, your light weight pack actually stays lightweight through the course of a skiing day.

EPLX 600 Cordura Marigold(rusty orange).  2nd fabric option on the Selkirk Pack.

  • Weight: 9.75 oz/yd² , 332gsm

  • Taber Abrasion test: 3000cycles
